About Myra Marrow
Myra Joyce Rhodes Marrow, of Fort Worth, TX, passed away on Tuesday, November 26th, 2024 at 93 years old. It is fitting that God called Myra to her heavenly home during the Thanksgiving season, a time that reflects her spirit of gratitude and joy.
Myra was born on December 10, 1930, in Rocky Point, North Carolina, to Arnold and Lessie Rhodes. She was the youngest of six children. Gifted from an early age, especially in music, Myra began taking piano lessons with her aunt and quickly became an accomplished pianist. She went on to play for church services and direct the choir, developing a lifelong passion for worship and music.
Growing up, Myra also learned the value of hard work by helping at her father's local store, selling shoes and other goods. A diligent student, she graduated as valedictorian of her high school class. In 1950, she married the love of her life, Rev. James ("Jimmy") Marrow, a minister at her church. Together, they served in various churches across Virginia, North Carolina, and Texas, with Myra continuing her musical contributions and supporting her husband’s ministry.
Family was Myra’s greatest joy. She was a devoted mother to four children—two sons and two daughters—and embraced her role with grace and dedication. Myra was known for her warm spirit, loving celebrations, and homemade birthday cakes. She later welcomed six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with her growing family.
Myra’s graciousness extended beyond her family. Her sharp mind, warm humor, and compassionate heart made her a beloved figure in her community. She lived a life of faith and service, always reflecting God’s unconditional love. Whether leading Bible studies, organizing church circles, preparing meals, visiting members, or writing thoughtful thank-you notes, Myra embodied a spirit of selflessness. She was a trusted confidante and a listening ear to anyone in need.
Her unwavering faith and generous heart were a source of inspiration to all who knew her. She was the glue that held her family and community together, encouraging others with courage, grace, and love. Myra truly lived a life of service and devotion, and her legacy will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
Myra was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James A. Marrow Jr. ("Jimmy"), and her daughter, Melody Rhodes Marrow Ripley.
She is survived by her children: James Alston Marrow ("Al"), Joy Williams and her husband Eugene, and Arnold Page Marrow and his wife Karen. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kathryn Williams ("Kathy"), James Williams and his wife Vanessa, Cameron Ripley and his wife Alexis, Andrew Ripley and his wife Jenny, Madison Marrow, Megan Gauldin and her husband Zach, as well as her three great-grandchildren.
